Design Defects Causing Injuries

Rhino drivers and passengers have suffered serious injuries when their Rhino rolled over in some instance passengers have died.

Common Injures include;

  • Broken Legs, Ankles or Feet.
  • Crushed Legs, Ankles or Feet.
  • Broken Arm, Wrist or Hand.
  • Crushed Arm, Wrist or Hand.
  • Amputation.

In lawsuits filed against Yamaha, Rhino rollovers clients have charged that the vehicles have design defects making them unstable and prone to roll overs.

The Rhino is top heavy, narrow, and the tires are too small. Rollovers have been reported at both low and high speeds, on flat surfaces and more rugged terrain.

Additionally, the majority of Yamaha's Rhino ATV's were manufactured and sold without doors. Even when occupants are restrained with factory installed devices, arms and legs still end up outside the vehicle during a rollover and can be injured.

In September 2006, Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, sent letters to customers regarding the Yamaha Rhino. This letter was just a warning, NOT a Yamaha Rhino recall.
